PREVIEW: Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey

For the last four years, the “Corkscrew” had a different meaning when referring to the final race of the season. A corkscrew in the wine country of Sonoma meant opening bottles of Pinot or Chardonnay. This year, The Corkscrew refers to Turns 8 and 8A on the 11-turn track of WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Quite arguably one of the most famous turns in all of motorsport.

In His Words

“The end of our season has been much stronger than the results have showed and heading into the season finale, a double-points race, it’s really important to myself and the U.S. Concrete team to end 2019 on a high-note. We had a decent test at Laguna Seca earlier in the year and the track holds a lot of my family history. It’s an iconic venue and it’s one of [Bryan] Herta’s best tracks from his career, so I have the right guy in my corner this weekend, for sure.”
