RACE RECAP: Honda Indy 200

QUALIFYING.
With the return to road course racing came the return of knock out qualifying and a battle for the Firestone Fast Six. For the first round of qualifying Marco Andretti took to Group 1. Andretti struggled with car setup, ending his qualifying effort after Round 1 and settling for a 19th-place starting position.
CHASING THE CHECKERS.
Another year of racing in Ohio’s heartland is in the books with Round 14 of NTT IndyCar Series competition complete, and for the second year in a row the 90-lap event was run without caution periods.
Marco Andretti started the race with a strong charge behind the wheel of the UniFirst / Curb machine, making his way from 19th to 11th before the first round of pit stops. Andretti eventually settled into 15th-place where he finished the day.
NEXT.
After a three-week stretch of racing, our team now heads home for a two-week break before returning to competition at the home track of Marco Andretti, Pocono Raceway,  for the ABC Supply Co. 500. Full race coverage will be live Aug. 18 on NBC Sports Network at 2 p.m. ET.

IN HIS WORDS.

“It was a tough race. Unfortunately, qualifying didn’t go as well as we would have hoped. There were no yellows in the race, which also didn’t help. We moved up as much as we could, but the cards weren’t in our favor today to make something big happen. We need to work on qualifying the car better – especially at tracks that are so dependent on the starting position and start to get the results we need.”
