FAST FACTS:
Mid Season Review: As we enter the second half of the 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season, the BHA Elantra N TCR cars are ranked 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th in the TCR standings. The five-time TCR championship winning team has tallied one victory, two pole positions and eight podium finishes in the first half of the 2024 championship.
By The Numbers: New to BHA in 2024, Denis Dupont and Preston Brown wasted no time acclimating to the #76 Elantra N TCR. They opened the season on the podium at Daytona, finished third at Watkins Glena and are the only team to have won a race this season, having scored their first IMPC victory at Mid-Ohio. Dupont and Brown are ranked second in the #76 Elantra N TCR, 220 points from the lead.
The defending series champions, Robert Wickens and Harry Gottsacker are ranked second. Still looking for their first victory as co-drivers, the #33 Elantra N TCR drivers have finished on the podium three times, scoring two thirds and one second. Gottsacker extended his series record for the most pole positions, when he added two more at Daytona and Sebring. The pair are 90 points behind Dupont and Brown and 310 points behind the championship leaders.
Mark Wilkins and Mason Filippi have enjoyed a lot of success as co-drivers, they won together three times in 2023 but are still searching for their first victory this season. The pair have finished on this podium three times in 2024, with one second and a pair of third place finishes. They are currently ranked fourth, -50 points from the top three.
Taylor Hagler and Bryson Morris are in the middle of their first season as co-drivers and are climbing the speed charts in the #77 Elantra N TCR. Hagler, a two-time IMPC Champion, earned her best qualifying result, fourth, earlier this season at Sebring. The pair ran inside the top-three at Watkins Glen, where they earned their first top-five finish of the season.
Oh Canada: Three of BHA’s eight drivers represent the Maple Leaf flag. Mark Wilkins and Robert Wickens are natives, having grown up within a few hours of CTMP. Denis Dupont hails from Belgium but resides in Montreal.
Not Your Average June: From taking the TCR class victory at the Nürburgring 24, and winning the 4-hour IMPC TCR race at Mid-Ohio, and winning the
exhibition class at Pikes Peak, to finishing second and third at Watkins Glen
and finishing third overall and setting the Electric Modified SUV/Crossover
record and the Electric Production SUV/Crossover record with the IONIQ 5 N, it was an incredibly busy but very successful and rewarding month for Bryan Herta Autosport and our partners at Hyundai.
Calling The Shots: Veteran race engineer Mark Weida joins the #33 team as engineer and strategist. Weida has a storied career in open wheel and sports car racing. He most recently worked on the Pikes Peak program with BHA.
Over $12k So Far: Hyundai Hope On Wheels has pledged to donate $100 for every lap a Hyundai Elantra N TCR leads during every race of the 2024 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season. Roswell Park Oishei Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Program will receive the donation based on laps led this weekend at CTMP. 2024 Season Tally: $12,400 (Daytona: $1200, Sebring: $2100, Laguna Seca $2300, Mid-Ohio 44 and Watkins Glen 22).
