Misfortunes for Marco at Mid-Ohio

RACE 1 – Saturday, September 12, 2020

No. 98 SURGERE / CURB HONDA
  • STARTED 11 // FINISHED 23
  • CHAMPIONSHIP: 21 (142 pts.)
  • OF NOTE: Gained two positions on the start before a team-related tire issue forced a loss in position and an off-strategy pit stop following the opening stint
“I think the 98 car really had potential today, our qualifying didn’t quite show our speed – another lap and we could have broken the top six. But, I think we could have done something from 11th. The race was kind of wasted from the start. We had a mistake with the rear tires, and with the impound rule, the penalty would have been too great if we had fixed it. So, we took the green and hoped to make the best out of it. We were able to gain a couple spots, I held on as long as I could. But we had to pit too far off strategy – it put us into a fuel saving race after already dropping back.”

Race 2 – Sunday, September 13, 2020

No. 98 SURGERE / CURB HONDA
  • STARTED 7 // FINISHED 20
  • CHAMPIONSHIP: 21 (153 pts.)
  • OF NOTE: Was the only driver in his group to attempt qualifying laps on slick tires // Running in third on Lap 28 ran off course through Turn 1
“It wasn’t our day today. The Surgere guys did a good job preparing the car. Qualifying was messy with the wet to dry conditions. Then in the race, I made a mistake early on and clipped the wet grass entering Turn 1 and it cost us a good result. But, really happy for Colton and the team – congrats to everyone!”
