FAST FACTS:
Sebring Satisfaction: BHA has enjoyed significant success at Sebring the last few seasons. Mark Wilkins and Harry Gottsacker won both races at Sebring in 2020, and the team locked-in the first three positions in the IMPC championship at the season finale at Sebring later that year. In 2021, Taylor Hagler and Michael Lewis scored their first podium as teammates, when they finished third at Sebring. It turned out to be the first of five consecutive podium finishes for the pair who went on to win the series title last season.
A Look Back at Daytona: BHA kicked off the 2022 season with their best results ever. BHA newcomers Tyler Maxson and AJ Muss made it an all-Elantra front row in qualifying. It was the 17-year old Maxson who scored the pole position, BHA’s first at the Speedway. After four intense hours of wheel-to-wheel racing, BHA earned a double podium finish at the Daytona season opener. Defending Champions Taylor Hagler and Michael Lewis finished second while Robert Wickens and Mark Wilkins finished third.
A Successful Transition: Racing with hand-controls for the first time, Robert Wickens finished on the podium at Daytona, alongside his teammate, fellow Canadian Mark Wilkins. His return to racing came after a three-year hiatus while recovering from an IndyCar incident in August of 2018 that left him disabled.
Womens History Month: In line with March being National Women’s History Month, Hyundai recently launched their 2022 Women in STEM scholarship. Hyundai’s goal is to continuously evolve toward the future of sustainable mobility, autonomy and to positively affect the world in which we live. Recognizing women who wish to pursue a STEM-related field of education, applicants are asked to submitted an essay combining Hyundai’s goals to their chosen STEM field. Five chosen scholarship winners will receive $10,000 each. Initiatives like Hyundai’s Women in STEM program have contributed to the expanded presence of women working in all roles in the IMSA paddock. BHA data acquisition engineers Megan Ryder and Josephine Eskildsen joined the team as interns from Hyundai’s Women in STEM initiative in 2021. BHA’s Taylor Hagler became the first woman ever to win an IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge title in 2021:

It’s Your Turn: Now you can experience the thrills of racing the three-time championship winning Hyundai Veloster N TCR – virtually on iRacing. The worlds leading racing simulation platform just added the Veloster to its paddock of virtual racers, which includes the Elantra N TCR. BHA drivers Tyler Maxson and Mark Wilkins helped iRacing develop the Hyundai entries for the virtual platform.
Hyundai Drivers’ Camp: North America’s Hyundai racing drivers recently completed a four-day training camp in Indianapolis. Presented by BHA, the drivers completed four days of intense physical and cognitive training at Pit Fit, in addition to trainings focused on sports psychology and mental health, engineering and data acquisition.
Growth: Coming off of their third consecutive IMSA title, Bryan Herta Autosport has expanded from four cars to six Elantra N TCR entries in 2022. The team welcomes three new drivers, AJ Muss, Robert Wickens and Tyler Maxson. Hyundai driver Mason Filippi is back racing under the BHA banner for 2022 after a year away racing for Hyundai at Copeland Motorsports.
