Indianapolis GMR Grand Prix Race Re-Cap

NTT INDYCAR SERIES
GMR GRAND PRIX
Saturday, July 4, 2020
Round 2 of NTT INDYCAR SERIES competition is complete as the historic racing weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is in full swing with NASCAR taking the track Sunday.

The condensed GMR Grand Prix weekend saw just one practice session before qualifying Friday, followed by a brief warmup and 80-lap main event in Saturday’s Indiana heat. The race was run without fans in attendance due to percussions surrounding the ongoing global health crisis.

The Series now heads into back-to-back doubleheader race weekends at Road America and Iowa Speedway, respectively. Fans will return to INDYCAR with those events, though with limited access areas.

No. 98 U.S. CONCRETE HONDA
ANDRETTI HERTA AUTOSPORT W/ MARCO ANDRETTI & CURB-AGAJANIAN
  • STARTED 25th // FINISHED 22nd
  • CHAMPIONSHIP: 20th (24 pts.)
  • OF NOTE: Lost morning warm-up time after a wheel nut issue resulted in damage, taking the 98 out of the session // Recovered into the top 10 mid-race before contact caused a handling issue for the remainder of the race
“This was a tough weekend for us on the 98 side. We had a wheel issue in morning warm-up and lost that session – so we didn’t really get a chance to finish out our planning before the race. We did what we could and had finally cracked the top 10 mid-race and then had contact and got put into the wall. From there we drove with bent toes and just held on to finish. Was hoping for more, but we’ll come back swinging at Road America next weekend.”
