250 Laps on Milwaukee Mile is a Historical Challenge
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Indianapolis –Auto racing first occurred on the Milwaukee Mile in 1903, six years before the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was built. Then it was dirt. The mile was paved in 1954, and Indycars have competed there almost continuously since. The list of winners reads like a “who’s who” of open wheel racing…This will be the first of two short ovals on the 2015 Verizon Indycar Schedule, and the first of rookie Gabby Chaves’ Indycar career. However, Chaves is no stranger to the Milwaukee Mile with two top four finishes in Indy Lights. Both qualifying and the race are on Sunday, a condensed schedule that give the race fan one super day at Milwaukee Indyfest. The race is 250 laps around the 1-mile oval, and car setup is key to staying on the lead lap and getting through traffic. Expect at least three pitstops from most teams, depending on yellows…
Gabby Chaves on the ABC Supply Co. Inc. Wisconsin 250:
“I’m pretty excited to get things going once again after a short break here and can focus on Milwaukee and getting back on track to the results we want to see. Coming on to the final stretch of the championship, we’re definitely wanting to break in to the top 5, challenging for a podium position before the year is over. So we will be working very hard this weekend to take the steps into that direction.”
