BHA Sweeps Road America – Driver Quotes

All BHA, All HYUNDAI Podium at Road America
First time IMSA Winners Chaves and Norman dominate, Brockman and Chase second in second IMSA start
Race Winners: #33 Hyundai Veloster N TCR
Drivers: Ryan Norman and Gabby Chaves
Qualified: 6th (Norman)  Finished: 1st
  • First IMSA victory for Norman and Chaves in third start.
Gabby Chaves: “Ryan handed the car off to me with the lead, and my job was to keep it from there. I had to do a little fuel saving, but Ryan helped me out with a gap. It’s a much easier job to be able to manage your tire life and your fuel from the front rather than trying to chase someone down, the final yellow helped.”
Ryan Norman: “We worked hard on saving fuel and we were very, very close, but man it feels great to get this win! It was a tough pill to swallow at Sebring. We’d been so fast, so fast at Daytona too, but today was our day. Gabby was awesome out there. I said it at Daytona and I’ll say it again, this is the most fun I’ve ever had driving a race car. Congratulations to Gabby, the team and especially to Hyundai.”
2nd: #29 Vertical Bridge Hyundai Veloster N TCR
Drivers: Spencer Brockman and Parker Chase
Qualified: 4th (Brockman)  Finished: 2nd
  • First podium finish in just their second IMPC start.
Spencer Brockman: “It was an awesome weekend overall for the #29 Vertical Bridge Hyundai Veloster and the Bryan Herta Autosport squad. It feels great to get our first IMSA podium so soon and I can’t thank everyone enough here at Bryan Herta Autosport and at Hyundai. I’m really looking forward to VIR!”
Parker Chase: “It was a really great for Spencer and I. Finishing on the podium in just our second race with the BHA in the Vertical Bridge/Hyundai Veloster N TCR car is a great accomplishment. After a tough race at Sebring, it felt great to rebound and show our potential. I’m really happy with the hard work the BHA crew put in to this effort, they gave us a phenomenal race car.”
3rd: #21 Hyundai Veloster N TCR
Drivers: Harry Gottsacker and Mark Wilkins
Qualified: 8th  Finished: 3rd
  • Second podium in a row. Extend points lead.
Mark Wilkins: “What an incredible weekend again for Hyundai! Congratulations to Ryan and Gabby as well as Spencer and Parker on their awesome results! Harry ran a great stint and kept the car in a position for us to extend our championship lead. We’re early in the season but it’s nice to lead going into VIR. It was a great weekend for BHA and Hyundai and a huge thanks to our awesome crew for all of their hard work.”
Harry Gottsacker: “Road America has been good to me the last two years. It’s a very special place for me, I’ve got a lot of family here and I am so glad to give them something to celebrate. Wow, what a great couple of races for Mark and I. I really enjoy working and driving with him and I guess that shows. We’re on a roll and it’s exciting to take our #21 Hyundai Veloster N TCR to VIR with a healthy points lead.”
11th: #98 Hyundai Veloster N TCR
Drivers: Mason Filippi and Michael Lewis
Qualified: 10th  Finished: 11th
  • The 98 suffered early race mechanical issues and eventually retired.
Mason Filippi: “The #98 Veloster was super strong this weekend. The BHA engineers had the car on point and I’m really happy for my teammates…1,2,3! I can’t wait for VIR.”
Michael Lewis: “Tough day for Mason and I today. We had a good weekend going with a strong race car. It wasn’t our day, but I couldn’t be happier for our teammates and for Hyundai, they should have a healthy lead in the manufacturers championship now, and we’ve got to keep that growing.”
