Hyundai Takes Championship Lead to Penultimate Round at Virginia International Raceway

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Oct. 6, 2021 – Coming off an all-Hyundai podium finish at their title sponsored race last month, the Hyundai race teams turn their focus to the penultimate round of the 2021 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge at Virginia International Raceway. Driving the #77 Veloster N TCR, Taylor Hagler and Michael Lewis currently hold the points lead this season. Should they ultimately claim the title, Hagler will be the first female ever to win the IMSA TCR championship.

Top Three Positions
Bryan Herta Autosport cars lead the top three positions in the points standings with the #77 Hyundai Veloster N TCR leading, followed by the #98 and #33 Hyundai Elantra N TCR cars. If Hyundai maintains its lead, it will be the third straight championship win since Hyundai entered IMSA competition three years ago.
Leading the Way
Hyundai leads the manufacturers’ title over Honda, Audi and Alfa Romeo by 70 points with two rounds remaining.
