MONTEREY, Calif., May 08, 2024—See Monterey proudly presents the latest installment of the Monterey Pro v Pro series with a peek into the exciting world of professional sports. This dynamic episode showcases the talents of two elite athletes, offering viewers an exclusive glimpse into the vibrant sports culture and the upcoming action-packed sporting events in Monterey County.

IMSA Race Car Driver Mason Filippi and Pro Soccer Player Pierce Gallaway from the Monterey Bay Football Club came together to exchange skills and stories against the stunning backdrop of two of Monterey’s incredible and beloved sports venues.

The episode starts out in Cardinale Stadium, home of Monterey Bay Football Club where Union player Pierce Gallaway introduces Mason Filippi to the stadium and the brand-new soccer program which, at the time of filming was getting ready to start its third season in the USL Championship. By his own admission, Mason has not practiced soccer in a long time but is able to impress Pierce in a head-to-head scoring competition.

Next, the athletes moved to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, which in contrast to the stadium, has a long and storied history in Monterey. Gearing up for his race weekend May 10 – 12 at the Motul Course de Monterey powered by Hyundai N, Mason gets a little extra practice time in by showing Pierce what it’s like to drive at full speed over the 5.5 story drop at turn 8 that race fans call The Corkscrew.

Beyond the thrill of competition, both athletes share their love for Monterey’s unparalleled beauty and vibrant community spirit. From panoramic vistas to culinary delights, Monterey offers an unmatched blend of adventure and excitement for athletes and enthusiasts alike. The series aims to highlight some of the dynamic energy of these events and facilities.

The content series was created last summer in anticipation of the U.S. Women’s Open that came to Pebble Beach for the first time in history last summer, this content series was created.  Monterey Pro v Pro highlights the dedication it takes to rise to the top in any field and celebrates the local legends who have made a commitment to turn their passions into careers.

To celebrate the launch of this new episode, Monterey Bay Football Club will be bringing a few players and some fun ticket promotions to the IMSA race Fan Party kick off event tonight, Wednesday, May 8th from 5-7 PM in Downtown Salinas. Fans of both racing and soccer can obtain autographs and enjoy fun interactions for the whole family.
