Memphis Pre-Race

Memphis, TN- The 2017 Red Bull Global Rallycross season kicks off this weekend with a first time trip to Memphis, Tennessee. Cabot Bigham, the 2016 Red Bull Global Rallycross Lites Champion, will make his Supercar debut in the #2 Bryan Herta Rallysport machine. The team will compete at the Memphis International Raceway on a 1.18-mile course, with a combination of dirt and pavement, a banked corner, jump, and signature “joker” section.

2017 brings new race locales, along with a new race format and point system. The format consists of Practice, Qualifying, three rounds of Heat races, two Semi-Final races, a Last Chance Qualifier and a Final. Each heat will have up to five competitors, first place will earn seven points, with six points for second position, while fifth position earns three.

“This season I’m looking forward to most seeing where I stand amongst my competition,” said Bigham. “And how fast I can adapt to the new conditions that the Supercars poses. As far as Memphis goes, I just really want to get out here and find out where we stand and what we need to work on to be the best in the coming races.

This weekend I’ll be faced with the narrowness of the track, the surface out that we need to adapt to and seeing how the weather impacts those surfaces. So not only will we have rain coming down on an oval, we’ll have multiple types of assault that we have to see how that reacts to the car.”

“Finally the hard work from the team over the winter is done,” said team owner Bryan Herta. “It is time to get back to racing.  We are very excited to help Cabot make the jump to the Supercar class, and can’t wait to see his progress.”
